The Allen & Heath AB168 is a rugged and portable 16 In / 8 Out digital stagebox, designed to provide high‑quality remote I/O expansion for Allen & Heath Avantis, SQ, Qu and AHM systems. Using a single Cat5 cable, the AB168 allows audio and control data to be positioned up to 100 metres from the mixer, making it ideal for stage, FOH and installed applications.
Equipped with 16 high‑performance mic preamps, each featuring phantom power indicators and a ‑20dB pad for line‑level sources, the AB168 ensures clean, reliable signal capture in demanding live environments. Eight balanced XLR line outputs provide secure, relay‑protected connections for monitors, PA feeds or external processing.
The AB168 uses Allen & Heath’s proven 48kHz digital audio architecture and offers true plug‑and‑play operation, with firmware updates handled automatically by the connected mixer. Dual EtherCon ports allow daisy‑chaining of additional expanders or direct connection to the ME personal monitoring system, offering excellent scalability.
Built with a robust metal chassis, protective rubber bumpers and a convenient carry handle, the AB168 is designed for life on the road. An optional 19‑inch rack‑mount kit is available, making it equally suitable for touring, rental, houses of worship, education and fixed installations.
