Over the course of the summer festival season we toured over 6 festivals including Creamfields, Download Festival, Sonisphere Festival UK and Splendour Festival working with headline acts including Feeder, The Bluetones, Bowling for Soup and Funeral for a Friend.
The main challenges aside from muddy fields and the good old British weather were how to create a memorable show for all the acts with the majority being onstage during daylight hours. The Stage Connections team spent a good deal of time planning the most cost effective way to deliver an impressive live light show to audiences of up to 7,000 revellers with acts on throughout the day and night. We were additional challenged by the stage itself which had serious restrictions on where we could position equipment, coupled with the fact that almost every show was on uneven ground meaning onstage structures had to be adapted for each show.
We decided to utilise a low resolution effect screen with pixel mapping software to allow us to convert video files into lighting effects. This screen was bright enough to create a variety of effects throughout the daylight shows and was then complemented by intelligent and LED lighting for after dark along with the obligatory smoke effects and strobe lighting.
